THE SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS PROGRAMMEBBE's Sustainable Business Programme aims to mitigate the negative environmental impacts of production and consumption in North West London. This includes reducing CO2 emissions, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill, and improving environmental performance amongst local people and enterprises. We do this through the creation and delivery of innovative environmental projects. Production
(Business and the Environment) BBE is committed to increase the environmental performance of businesses in North West London. This is achieved through the undertaking of environmental reviews - the E-rating - of participating companies. In 2003 BBE undertook
action research in Stonebridge CED area to explore the opportunity of
creating a local social enterprise that reclaims and recycles valued waste
to provide employment for local people. Consumption (Households and the Environment) Everyday household activities contribute to a range of environmental problems including climate change, waste generation, and air, soil and water pollution. This shows that there is a significant link between our day-to-day household decisions and environmental impacts. BBE is working to develop tools that can measure household environmental performance and evaluate improvements following structured interventions.
